Education Background
I graduated from Oberlin College with a B.A. in Art History because I was fascinated with how people over time expressed themselves. In 2010, I graduated with a Masters Degree from Naropa University in Transpersonal Psychology with a Concentration in Wilderness Therapy. I have trainings in Synergetic Play Therapy, Grief Work, Gestalt Therapy, EMDR, Mindfulness and Somatic Practices, as well as Hokomi Therapy.

Why do I LOVE weaving nature into therapy sessions?
When I hiked the entire Appalachian Train in my 20s, I realized people open up more when in nature. Afterwards, I worked in North Carolina with "At Risk" boys in wilderness therapy programs. I was a grief counselor for Outward Bound teens. I have experience backpacking for weeks with 10 year old girls at the Women's Wilderness Institute. After these trips, the integration back into everyday life seemed to be the hardest part of the entire experience. I want to work with clients outside, so that "nature" is not a distant, backpacking vacation. My clients experience nature intertwined with healing. Eventually, they can turn towards nature instead of a therapist for support. See my "In Nature" page if this lights you up!

Why do I love being a Play Therapist?
Children are resilient! Just as a child's broken bone would heal faster than an adults, their emotional healing can also be on the fast-track. Plus, they call it like they see it. Therapeutic support during their sensitive years can make a lasting impact on the rest of their lives.

Why do I love Parent Consultations?
Parenting is not for wimps! It's an inward hero's journey. We weather the unknowns daily! We become different people! And with luck, we experience life to the fullest with our loved ones. There is no straightforward map on how to do this trek. Each family is different, so every solution is going to be different. My two girls school me everyday. I get it! Let's talk.

Why do I love Hokomi Therapy for adults?
While I was getting my Master's Degree at Naropa University in Wilderness Therapy, students were required to see their own therapist during their studies. I spent months looking for the right therapist. When I finally found a Hokomi therapist, I realized this is where it's at! Since completing the 2 year Hokomi Comprehensive Training, I now understand how Hokomi can not only heal physical body pains and emotional wounds, but transform them into our strengths.
